Luscious Malbec from Argentina

Septima Obra Malbec 2014

100% Malbec from the Luján de Cuyo region of Mendoza, Argentina

As the days get longer and warmer, I find myself wanting to drink wines that pair well with what I consider to be a perfect evening for outdoor cooking, or at the least, sitting outside to enjoy the moderate weather before full-blown summer makes it way to my part of the world.  Mediterranean-seasoned mixed grill of lamb chops, steak with zucchini and squash or a well made juicy burger piled high with cool, crispy vegetables will soon be on my spring time  dinner plate!

Mendoza’s Septima Obra Malbec is a luscious red wine that is moderately concentrated with detectable minerality supported by expressive fresh black fruits and hints of purple flowers. This is just what I need to confirm that spring is near and I am ready to come out of hibernation to yet another beautiful springtime.

My love for an uncomplicated wine-food pairing  always brings me to Argentina’s signature red grape varietal, Malbec.

Septima Obra defines the character of this discerning grape varietal from the premier Agrelos, Luján de Cuyo of Mendoza at the foothills of the Andes.

Wine is art and terroir is the palette……when wine is crafted for sensory appeal and from creative inspiration.

The Cordorniu Raventos’ family winemaker, Paula Borgo, has combined the art, science, sustainability of winemaking into a work of art in a glass. She takes the Malbec grape and personalizes it to the family vineyard’s vision to express this wine-making region that she lives and breathes.

The sand loamy soil on steep slopes as well as day and night temperature diurnal differences is the magic that creates a wine with characteristics cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world. Lush blackberries, mixed berry jam with a touch of floral vanilla, violets and dark cocoa with just the right amount of tannin texture in the mouth that makes you want more.

Grab the cheese plate, fire up the grill, fire pit and just simply enjoy.

Suggested retail price: $24.99
