Christmas cookies and Gingerbread Cocktail, A Perfect Pairing!
How about a Christmas cocktail board? The Christmas season is here and I’ve got the perfect Gingerbread Old Fashioned recipe to help you celebrate. We all know about cheese and charcuterie boards, so why not a cocktail board?
This is perfect for a gathering with friends or an intimate evening by the fire or fire pit or indoors while watching your favorite Christmas movies snuggled up in bed under fluffy blankets. The amount of ingredients can be customized to your number of guests.
The key to a cocktail board is keeping the ingredients simple but high quality. It only takes a few seconds to measure everything and add to the glass or glasses. Just make sure you have all your ingredients gathered and enough ice cubes for all your guests. Although each recipe makes one cocktail at a time, it’s very easy to whip up one, two or ten (or more) at one time.
Really. It’s THAT easy! Just make sure you have enough cookies!
Gingerbread Old Fashioned Syrup
This cocktail board is definitely for adults but it brings out the kid in all of us and remind you of your childhood. I could have made the syrup but Bittermilk Gingerbread Syrup is the perfect blend of molasses and spices ready to create the perfect cocktail just right for the season. Honestly, I don’t think I will ever make syrup from scratch again because it’s so awesome.
Cookies
Who says Christmas sugar cookies are just for kids? Unapologetically, I am not a baker and glad I am not! I found Snowmen & Snowflake Sugar Cookies + Snowflake Gingerbread Sandwiches from Elle’s Belles Bakery out of Montana on Goldbelly and although I am not a baker, they are and undoubtedly create the absolute best cookies I have ever had. They are insanely delicious and gorgeous, arrived quickly and intact.
Traverse City Whiskey
Traverse City Whiskey Co Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the perfect American Whiskey and the perfect choice for my Christmas Old Fashioned. It is small batched and handcrafted and full of luscious flavors of vanilla, warm spices and a hint of citrus making it a perfect match for this recipe especially with a few dashes of Angostura Orange Bitters. This whiskey of the North has quickly become my favorite go-to for all of my cocktails. I ordered all my TC whiskey from Sip Whiskey. Sip Whiskey delivers quickly and your order arrives intact and ready to sip!
Traverse City Premium Cocktail Cherries
How about those cherries? Intensely flavored Michigan cherries are slow-cooked and candied which makes them the perfect finishing touch for your cocktails. They are available at their website or on Amazon. I buy two bottles at a time! They are that good!
Bittered Candied Orange Slices
These lovely wheels of sweet orange slices are amazing! Already thinly sliced, dehydrated, preserved with sugar and warm spices, they are the perfect accompaniment to your cocktail. Since they are preserved, you can keep them extended periods of time so you don’t have to worry if you don’t have any fresh fruit in the house. They can be ordered at Kegworks or Blue Henry Spirits.
