Several weeks ago, I entered a giveaway contest hosted by Arte Agave on Instagram. Bottles of hand-painted Fiero Tequila Infused with Serrano were painted by local artist Diana Contreras. They simply asked that whoever wins to “promise” to make a Spicy Margarita. I won! And, I did!
ABOUT FIERO SERRANO TEQUILA
Fiero Tequila Blanco Serrano is a flavored tequila-or-Mixto tequila made, distilled and bottled in Jalisco (Los Valles). Since it is infused, it cannot be referred to as 100% Tequila Agave so the label states “Tequila.” Fiero Serrano Tequila is distilled by Casa Don Roberto, a sustainable, Mexican-owned heritage tequila business producing exceptional tequila since being founded in 1924. This commitment to sustainability pairs well with the spirit of Estela Anguiano, Casa Don Roberto’s master distiller, the first woman to hold this position in Mexico. (per Fiero.com website)
Fiero Tequila Serrano Tequila is infused with local, fresh Serrano Pepper from local Jalisco farmer’s markets.
Turns out, I AM a spice fanatic and although the fresh Serrano spice does hit on first sip, it’s not overwhelming hot just pleasantly spicy. Mixing it into my favorite Margarita Recipe was spot on! I’ve always loved Spicy Margaritas that I’ve had with fresh jalapeños that have been muddled into the recipe. It gives it that spicy kick with verdant, fresh flavors of the peppers.
It’s a perfect for refreshing tequila cocktails with a kick! The spicy, tingly heat makes your mouth water and is curiously refreshing on a very hot summer day in Texas, or anywhere for that matter.
The fresh Serrano Pepper infusion gives it the same flavors and aromas without having to muddle the pepper, unless you want to for the extra extra kick!
Here’s my foolproof base recipe. This is for one margarita. What I like to do is make a pitcher of margarita for the number of people I will be serving so just multiply the numbers for ever how many people you want to serve. Trust me, you’ll want to make a pitcher. You and your friends will want a refill!
1.5 oz (1-1/2 oz) Fiero Serrano Tequila 0.5 oz (1/2 oz) freshly squeezed lime juice .75 oz (3/4 oz) orange liquor, I used Naranja Adjust your sweetness level as needed with light colored Agave Syrup or Simple Syrup
Rim your favorite Margarita glass with a spicy salt blend and fill the glass to the brim.( For best results, I used bagged ice from the grocery store instead of my freezer ice.)
Garnish with a fresh lime wedge and a fresh Serrano Pepper, of course!
Cheers!
