Check out our adventure in the heart of the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail on 290 West. We had a blast and you will too! We were totally immersed into the Texas Hill Country lifestyle and was a feast for the senses!
Arch Ray Resort in Fredericksburg,Texas absolutely has it ALL! Upon driving into the parking lot of this fabulous 300 acre gem I knew it was a special place! This family-owned and operated dream was conceived by Stephen and Sally Baxter-Ray Ogle and SA Baxter, Stephen’s father. They have created a fully inclusive getaway located in the heart of wine and spirits country on 290W along the wine trail. They will soon be breaking ground for a hotel, and currently selling lots for homes next to the resort which has a brewery, winery near by, in-house distillery, restaurant and sprawling outdoor area for music and events with an amphitheater. Arch Ray Winery, Paul Bee Distillery, Ogle Brewery, and 1894 Ranch to Table Restaurant are all family run, operated and name-sakes of the family.
Recently, I was invited to spend an afternoon experiencing the buzz around all the excitement first hand and it did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, we were extremely impressed and dazzled by this fabulous piece of the Texas Hill Country on the 290 Wine Trail. Clearly it is a place for fun and respite that is here and ready for you.
Please enjoy all the photos. There were so many photo opportunities, I wanted to share as many as I could with my readers.
Lance the GM/Operations Manager guided us from beginning to end where we ended up the 1894 Ranch to Table Restaurant for a stellar meal and cocktails. The beef comes from their ranch to table and is aged to perfection. The beef is pasture to plate from the family’s own Baxter Ranch featuring high quality Angus-Wagyu beef that is grass-fed, silage and brewers’ grain finished. We began our experience by walking through the most beautifully constructed series of spacious rooms that were tastefully decorated which reminded me of lodges I’ve experienced in Colorado. Lots of seating area for relaxing with friends or family and ample room to enjoy cocktails, wine, beer and a fabulous meal at the restaurant. As Lance guided us through, we first stopped at the distillery.
The Paul Bee Distillery is gorgeous and pristine and as we toured we got to sip on and enjoy several cocktails made by spirits that were either made onsite as well as hand selected tequila from Jalisco, Mexico and beer brewed on site. They are making rum on site and canning cocktails on site to enjoy especially perfect for outdoor events. We met up with Dustin who is part of the distillery and brewery team.
We enjoyed several selections from the brewery in the room where many fun events are hosted. If you are in the mood for a glass of wine, Arch Ray Winery has a wide variety of Texas wines that reflects the Texas Hill Country. Pair with the exquisite cuisine from the 1894 Restaurant where each dish is high end-casual with high quality ingredients by the chef and his well trained staff. Fiesta Winery is the family owned winery that is located in four different locations including the location on 290W. The wines at Arch Ray proudly come from Fiesta. Cheers!
The menu is well-rounded and offers some of the best dishes we’ve had around this area. Enjoy an amazing upscale meal for celebrating an anniversary or birthday as well as enjoying a casual yet high quality meal for a more relaxed afternoon. The salad was fresh and crisp and the burger was amazing and the aged beef was unbeatable.
Every cocktail we had was well crafted and creatively curated by Josh, the bartender. He is into customer service and really knows how to mix up a cocktail!
What I love about Arch Ray is an evening or weekend can be enjoyed as a couple as well as a family gathering. There is enough room for everyone to spread out whether it’s inside to cool off in the hot summer months, around the fireplace in the cooler months and lots of outdoor space for music, concerts and other fun outdoor adventures and festive events.
Arch Ray is such a great getaway for a day, night or a weekend. They are in the process of breaking ground for their new 121 room hotel. In the meantime, there are many ways to stay near the resort including an RV park, Kyle Park Air BB’s, hotel rooms in Fredericksburg and the best of all, lots to purchase on site to build a home called the community on the Arch Ray property.

Looking forward to cooler weather so I can grab a fabulous cocktail and enjoy sipping on it while cozying up to the fireplace.
Such lovely, tasteful and comfortable areas all around the resort to relax and rejuvenate with family and friends.
A quick photo with Lance and Dustin while touring the facility.
Oh my! This was a real treat! Locally distilled spirits as well as carefully selected tequila from Jalisco, Mexico is flowing freely to create some of the best cocktails I have had!
Check out the wonderful wines of the month and pair them with your favorite meal at the restaurant.
The still is gorgeous and is creating fantastic local spirits for all of your cocktails!
Paul Bee cocktails in the can are made and canned on site and perfect for outdoor sitting and events.
The Paul Bee Old Fashioned. One of my favorite cocktails made even better with their bourbon!
Toasting with a refreshing Moscow Mule.
If you are a beer lover, you will love their brewed beers!
One of Layla’s favorite cocktails, and Espresso Martini
Oh! The Strawberry Margarita was perfect !
Chocolate Cake Pecan Old Fashioned
The aged strip steak was stellar. 1894 Ranch-to-Table proudly serves 1894 Baxter Ranch Angus – Wagyu Beef which was born and raised in Bend, TX. Look at how delicious this was!
The 1894 Wagyu Cheeseburger was on another level of deliciousness.
You want a salad? You’ve got a fabulous fresh salad that will satisfy you!
The outdoor area is expansive and perfectly comfortable for hanging outside the resort to just enjoy the warm Texas days under shade or listening to the music being played at the amphitheater.
So glad we got to me Stephen !
