Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with Newly Introduced Agave Blanco by Maverick Spirits!

Recently, I attended a media event to hear about and taste Maverick Spirits’ new Samuel Maverick Agave Blanco and Agave Reposado at the distillery in San Antonio, Texas.
Great to hang out at the marvelous Maverick Distillery! WOW! So much fun and soooo much deliciousness!
So much fun to discover all the magical spirits Texas has to offer!
Maverick’s  Agave Blanco has been released in time for Cinco de May and is available for purchase at the distillery and on retail shelves where other Maverick Spirits are sold.
If you are in the area stop by and celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the distillery.
As you know, a tequila spirit can only be called “tequila” by law if it is made in Mexico. Agave Spirits is a new category of spirits in the United States, and Maverick Spirits Distillery was the first distillery approved to produce Agave Spirits in the United States.
-Maverick Spirits’ Agave Blanco is a Texas take on tequila. (You might think of it as having the same DNA as tequila, just distilled in San Antonio instead of Mexico). You can use it to make all of the same kind of mixed drinks you normally would with tequila. It’s a great spirit to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and enjoy year-round!

“Tequila, by law, has to be distilled in Mexico, and until recently, very few distilleries were making agave spirits in the United States as there was no category in the Federal regulations,” said Maverick Spirits Head Distiller, Kevin Graham. “Our founder, Dr. Kenneth Maverick, closely followed the early Federal discussions to determine an American style of Agave spirits. With our proximity to Mexico and history here in San Antonio, it made a lot of sense to us to produce Agave spirits. When the regulations were approved by the TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) for an Agave Spirit category, we were ready with a pre-designed label and recipe for distilling. In fact, we were the first distillery approved for producing Agave Spirits in the United States.”

Maverick Spirits’ Agave Blanco is distilled from 100% Blue Agave nectar, creating an approachable floral and fruit forward spirit. It is appealing to tequila lovers and non-tequila drinkers alike with its fragrant scents of dry white wine, apple blossom, roasted agave, and white pepper. The palate is loaded with agave, green fruit, vanilla and honeysuckle and a beautiful, lush mouthfeel. It is excellent in cocktails and delicious to sip on its own.

Agave Blanco has captured the attention of industry connoisseurs and earned prestigious awards, such as a John Barleycorn Gold Medal in 2020 and a Gold Medal at the 2021 Denver International Spirits  Competition.

Don’t limit yourself to a Margarita. Mix a real Texas cocktail with Maverick’s Agave Spirit anytime !

We loved the 1836 Cocktail. Whip one up for yourself and don’t forget the spicy salt rim!

How about a Mexican Mojito?!?!? Substitute blanco for rum and add a bunch of mint and be refreshed with a Tex-Mex style cocktail!

Agave Blanco is now available for purchase online and can be shipped to people in 41 states around the country.

About:
Maverick Spirits Distillery is a distillery, bar, and restaurant venue with rich Texas history located just steps away from the Alamo. The distillery sits on the property of what was once Samuel Maverick’s original homestead in the 1800s. Dr. Kenneth Maverick and his wife Dr. Amy Maverick, bought the old building and renovated it to become the distillery it is today. The distillery building was also previously a fire station as well as the old Lockwood National Bank.
-Maverick Spirits is an award-winning brand, and recently won new awards at the Texas Whiskey Festival in two categories.
