Loews Hotels is celebrating the Rio games with a twist on the host country’s Caipirinha. Get into the olympic spirit with a distinctive handcrafted cocktail created by the expert mixologists at Mason Bar at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.
“Framboesa” is Portuguese for “raspberry and ”The Caipirinha” is Brazil’s national cocktail. Cachaça is Brazil’s most common distilled alcoholic beverage, which is a distilled spirit made from sugarcane juice.

1.5 oz Cachaca
Splash of Proscecco or other light Sparkling Wine
2 tps Raw Sugar
2 oz Fresh Raspberries
½ Fresh Lime
Method: One night before serving the cocktail, combine the fresh raspberries with water inside sphere ice mold then freeze. The next day muddle lime and raw sugar into an Old Fashioned glass. Build cocktail by adding the muddled lime/sugar mixture with Cachaca and Raspberry Ice Sphere. Top with Proscecco or light Sparkling Wine and garnish with fresh raspberry skewer.
