Dripping Springs is a unique town a few miles west of Austin and has a vibrant community of many creative foodies, artists and winemakers. What a wonderful place to be from and to visit!
” IT ALL STARTS HERE!”
Saturday was a perfect day for a festival in Dripping Springs!
The Festival Dripping with Taste 2012 was the perfect way to showcase some of the best that Dripping Springs and the surrounding areas have to offer.
What a beautiful and tasty way for the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce and The Visitor’s Bureau to showcase some of their local best and finest creations for foodies to enjoy and learn more about Dripping Springs.
Many of this area’s most gifted chefs, wineries, breweries and crafters featured some of their most irresistible treats indoors and out at The Texas Hill Country Olive Company.
The parking lot was lined with tents filled with local food, crafts and beer. Inside, was packed full of local wineries, restaurants and chefs offering a wide variety of generous tastings. With the $30 ticket, you got 6 food/beverage tickets and extra tickets available for purchase.
I really enjoyed wandering around and sampling as much as I could sample! Here are a few of my favorites.
Please enjoy my photographic food tour from this event!
A mouthwatering display of tasty desserts that aren’t so bad for you. Gluten-free and vegan cupcakes, cake balls and chocolatey treats filled their table. Love,Love,Love the “Better for You” Hostess-style Cupcake!
AMAZING!
Thai-style Steamed mussels with a tasty coconut and curry broth was prepared by My Wednesday Dinner– Trish-private chef and caterer.Find Trish at Wednesday Dinner on Facebook. The mussels were a perfect pairing with Dotson~Cervantes crisp and fruity Muscat Canelli & Chardonnay blend Gotas de Oro. This is an amazing wine! I will be recreating this pairing at home with one of my next recipe and wine pairings!
Ladling up some of the darkest & richest Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo was Linda Allen’s Fine Foods Restaurant & Catering. This is the way gumbo should be! Brings back delicious memories from when I grew up in Louisiana.
The succulent Nutty Brown Cafe’s Shiner Braised short ribs was a crowd favorite! Many of us were standing in the corners of the tasting rooms savoring every tender bite! I sure am glad fall is upon us. I do believe this will be one of my go-to dishes at the Cafe’.
Culinary Demonstrations were held throughout the day including Tara Weaver of Williams-Sonoma who prepared
pressure cooker Risotto with Peas and Prosciutto. I will be sure to sign up for more next year!
This year’s hosts The Texas Hill Country Olive Company offers a variety of fine olive oils and balsamic vinegars. If you haven’t been, you should make your way out to the beautiful tasting room and orchard off Ranch Road 12 in Dripping Springs. Pick out your favorite and serve with crusty, warm bread, cheese and a local wine for a truly amazing local food experience.
Locally hand-made soaps and bath fizzies infused with the local olive oil and lavender are also available.
They have a wonderful aroma and would be a perfect gift as well as grabbing a few bars for yourself!
Flat Creek Estate Winery and Vineyards offer a great variety of quality Italian and French style wines. One of my favorite is the floral and fruity Pinot Grigio and the ever popular Super Texan.
Duchman Family Winery featured their floral Trebbiano and crisp Vermentino, traditional Italian varietals grown and bottled here in Texas. I will be exploring more of Duchman wines!
Desserts and treats galore by Sugar Shack Bakery, Ms.Chocolatier and many others….
I truly enjoyed sampling some of Dripping Springs finest foods and wine. It will be fun to see what next year’s event will showcase.
