A visit to Texas Heritage Vineyards located in Fredericksburg is a sip of ? Texas wine. This is what it means to experience wine in our Texas Wine Country in the Hill Country.
Along with Big Thirst Marketing and several of my media friends, we were invited to an evening of tasting the wine bounty of what Texas Heritage Vineyards produces.
Voted “Best Tasting Room in Fredericksburg” three years in a row, my experience did not disappoint!
Owners Susan Johnson, husband Billy and winemaker Tyler Buddenmeyer greeted us with a glass of wine, then a quick hayride to the vineyards to see the beautiful grapes growing on the vines. Back at the tasting room we were treated with a tasting of their award-winning wines including Texas-grown Malbec, Alicante Bouchet, Old 300, Rosé, Lizzie Rose and Cabernet Sauvignon and even got to drink wine straight from the barrel!
Texas soil grows the grapes and winemaker Tyler takes these grapes and creates Texas wines that are bright, full of fruit and spice flavors and aromas, and delightful earthiness. We also got to enjoy the winemaker’s favorite, the Spanish grape Tempranillo which of course is my favorite too!
This Texas version of this Spanish wine pays homage to and well represents this gorgeous grape from Spain which will pair perfectly with Texas Bbq and local Tex-Mex cuisine.
We even got to toast to the awesome Texas sunset with a glass of their fabulous rosé wine and the Longhorns!
I look forward to my next visit to this beautiful winery set in such beautiful Texas countryside and I hope you do too! And, we look forward to drinking my bottles of wine with food from my grill and smoker!
Everyone is getting ready for the hayride to the vineyards.
You can see the vineyards in the background.
This is mid-May and as you can see the grapes are flourishing on the vines.
Pretty soon these grapes will go through Veraison and will then be ready for harvest.
We arrived back to the tasting room and ready to sip on these fabulous wines.
Tyler knows how to make wine. This Cabernet Sauvignon is the perfect pairing for a summer evening with friends and maybe a charcuterie board or grilled steak.
Susan and Tyler told us the story of each wine as we sipped. It’s really amazing to see and taste what the terroir Texas can do with grapes!
Barrel Tasting time!
Cheers to you too, Amethyst Heels!
Thanks Matt! for inviting us to such an amazing winery with stellar wines and views!
Getting ready for the sunset views!
CHEERS to you, sunset and the gorgeous Texas Hill Country with beautiful wines made by you!
Even the Longhorns wanted in on the sunset viewing!
